Crime in Jamaica is a serious problem and crime amongst the youth has been identified time and time again as an important issue in addressing crime in the nation as a high percentage of crime is committed by young persons, especially those that are “unattached”.

Some of the questions the panelists will explore will be whether or not music and music education can make a difference in modifying behaviour, especially criminal behavior. The issue of the reputation of the connection between crime and the music industry will be explored. Does music, especially certain forms of Jamaican music nurture violence and criminality in our youths?

Anisa Wilson-Smith has worked extensively on the issue of Unattached Youth and now leads her own company that addresses life-skills
