Avant Academy of Music has now expanded the ways that payments can be made for music lessons. The new facility allows customers to make payments using a link that can be accessed through the website, by email, or social media.

This was made possible through the facilitation of the school’s bankers, Scotiabank, the developers of Amber Payments, and the payment processor, First Atlantic Commerce.

The school of music, which has been attempting to transition to become a leading education company using technology has long desired to be able to effectively administer their educational services in the online environment.

Takes too long….

The effective collection of payments and scheduling of classes has always been a challenge in this age of social media and smartphones. This is because the primary means of marketing & sales are online, especially social media. Customers discover the school online often with a lot of excitement and find that said excitement wanes once they have to make a phone call or jump in transportation and physically come to the office to make a payment.

COVID & Lockdowns

In March 2020, when Jamaica started to lock down in step with the rest of the world, Avant Academy of Music like many businesses was faced with a harsh reality. Go online or perish!

This made the search for an online payment solution even more pressurizing. People were being told by the government and their workplaces to not go out in the world. The school had to innovate in online learning as quickly as possible.

Fortunately going online was always a part of the strategic plan, however, the global pandemic now made it mandatory and immediate!

Finding the solution

After years of searching and trying several solutions, it was noticed that the Jamaica Public Service had an effective app for not only receiving payments but managing the process of reconnecting customers once the payment was made. The developer of that facility was Amber Pay and they were approached in late October 2021 to develop a solution for Avant Academy of Music.

After about six months of effort, the payment facility is now available and is being placed on the website and is used to invoice customers via email and Whatsapp.

This is in keeping with Avant Academy of Music’s mission to be a leader in music education in Jamaica, meeting the needs of Jamaican people in the most innovative way possible.
