The main question we get from adults who want to study music is…

Is it too late for me?

The answer is no, it is not too late.

We provide music lessons for persons of all ages. We have had students in their 90’s and they have done very well.

The truth of the matter is that there are some differences to learning music when you are an adult as compared to a child:

  • Adults have lived more. That experience needs to be a part of the lessons

  • Adults generally have less discretionary time. So learning often must be project-based. Tell us what you want to achieve and let’s get there together.

  • Musical goals for adults should be more focused on matching core values and bringing personal satisfaction rather than discovering a “talent”. After all, they are not children.

Having said that, our music mentors are willing to work with you as an adult to create a program that is perfect for YOU.

Private CoNSULTATION

The development of a program or project that will help the adult to achieve their goals.

This requires a discussion about their experience, expectations, and goals in relation to their musical education.

We found that on average adults have the following goals:

  • To play music for their own pleasure

  • To be of service (such as in church or other social groupings)

  • To be able to teach others (normally younger persons)

  • To entertain loved ones (spouses, young children, etc)

  • To stir up their creativity (Songwriting, improvisation, arranging)

  • To be a professional musician or singer

Group Lessons

Learning in a group has certain advantages:

  • Being accountable to others can improve focus and commitment to practice

  • Takes less time to experience making music

  • Develop relationships with other like-minded adults

  • Making music with others is fun!

Performance Support & Development

Some of us do not need lessons. We are already performers at various stages of our development and from time to time we need a little push or breakthrough on the journey to achieving our goals.

Avant Academy of Music has the following services to support musical artists on their journey

Setlist Development

Having the right setlist is everything for the performer. If you are doing a wedding, a corporate event or a stage show, the entire experience will come down to the list of songs you are presenting.

We can provide the following:

A setlist consultation to ensure that based on your target audience you have the most effective songs for your setlist.

Production of scores for musicians so that whenever you show up to a rehearsal you are the most prepared artist in the room.

Setlist rehearsals to ensure that you have control of the setlist as an instrumentalist or vocalist

Video recording of your setlist so that you have a reference for improvement and for social media

Vocal Support & Development

Working with an accompanist, run through songs, and get guidance on how to improve their execution and performance.
